On March 4-5, Yankton Middle School student Jonathan Wenisch participated in the 17th annual Middle School All-State Band in Pierre, joining more than 200 musicians for the weekendlong event. Middle school students are selected for this prestigious event by submitting audition CDs the first part of December. Each student’s audition consists of at least three scales and two musical selections that display the student’s musical tone and technical ability. All CDs are listened to and adjudicated by South Dakota music educators. Students are selected based on their final scores from their auditions. From the qualifying final scores, two band ensembles are formed. This is the second year, Jonathan has been selected as a member of the Middle School All State.
